Statement

There are more and more animals whose ancestors for several generations have been raised in zoos.

These species have evolved over centuries to survive in the wild and developed their own characteristics and instincts. 
However, their biological instincts and physiology are gradually changing while they continue to live in zoos. 
For example, one chief zoo attendant says that the lions’ manes are becoming shorter and the orangutans' flanges are becoming smaller at his zoo.

Nevertheless, they are still beautiful to us.
The photos in this series display both the unchanged and the changed beauty of these animals

数世代に渡って動物園で暮らす動物達が増えているという。

動物達は大自然の中、長い年月をかけそれぞれが生き残る為に築いてきた生態的特徴を持っている。

しかし、動物園で生活を続ける中でその生態にも変化が起きている。

例えばある飼育員の人曰く、ライオンのたてがみが短くなり、オランウータンのフランジが小さくなったとのこと。

それでも私たちは、変わらず動物の美しさを見ることができる。

私は、動物園にいる動物の変わらない美しさ、変化した美しさ、この両方を切り取った。
